1. Introduction
SwapDrop (“we,” “our,” or “us”) provides a platform that allows users to connect and exchange physical items via mail.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share your information when you use the SwapDrop mobile application and related services.
2. Information We Collect
a. Information You Provide
- Email address
- Username
- Password (securely stored)
- Mailing address
b. User Communications
- Messages between matched users
- Messages are private and automatically deleted after a completed swap
c. Automatically Collected Information
- Device type
- Basic app usage data (analytics)
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Create and manage accounts
- Match users for swaps
- Enable user-to-user communication
- Provide and improve app functionality
4. Sharing of Information
a. With Other Users (Core Functionality)
SwapDrop requires users to share mailing addresses to complete swaps.
By using the app, you understand and agree that:
- Your mailing address will be shared with matched users
- This sharing is necessary for the service to function
⚠️ We strongly recommend using a P.O. Box or alternative mailing address.
b. Service Providers
We may share data with trusted third-party providers (e.g., hosting, analytics) strictly to operate the service.
c. Legal Obligations
We may disclose information if required by law.
5. Data Retention
a. Mailing Addresses
- On a completed swap, your address remains visible to your matched partner for approximately 14 days after the swap completes, after which it is scheduled for removal from our active systems
- If you do not sign in for 30 days and have no active swaps, your saved default address is scheduled for clearing from your profile within several days of crossing that threshold. Your account itself remains; you can re-enter an address any time you return
b. Messages
In-app messages between matched partners are scheduled for deletion approximately 14 days after the swap completes. Messaging is not available outside of an active or recently-completed swap.
c. Account Data
- Profile data (username, bio, swap history, ratings) is retained while your account is active
- You may request account deletion at any time, which anonymizes your profile and removes your personal information from active systems
d. Backups and Operational Reality
Deletion from our active database does not occur instantaneously. Routine cleanup jobs run on a regular schedule, and deleted information may persist briefly during normal operations. Encrypted backup snapshots may retain copies of deleted data for up to 30 days before being overwritten as part of standard disaster-recovery practices.
e. Legal and Safety Exceptions
We may retain certain information for longer periods than described above when required by law, to comply with a valid legal request or court order, to resolve disputes between users, to investigate suspected abuse or violations of our Terms, or to protect the safety and integrity of the service.
6. Data Security
We implement reasonable safeguards. However, no system is completely secure.
7. Your Rights and Choices
You may:
- Access or update your information
- Request account deletion
- Stop using the service at any time

8. Children’s Privacy
SwapDrop is not intended for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.
9. International Users
By using SwapDrop, you consent to data processing in the United States and other countries.
